LEAGUE RULES
A) Matches
- Each team is scheduled to play six regular season matches
- All regular season matches will consist of three sets, regardless of who wins the first two.
- Each set will be played with two players. These two players will play together for the duration of the set.
- Each set will be decided by a best of three games. (the first team to win two games wins the set)
- Each game is up to 18 points, cancellation scoring.
- There is no penalty for going over 18 points.
- Please note that if the teams are tied and a team hits 18 during a round, the game is not complete until the round is over. (ex: two teams have 16 points. On throw 1, Team A scores three points on their first throw. The game is not over until all bags have been thrown in the round.
- The home team gets to pick which side of the board they will get to thrown from in sets 1 and 3. The away team makes the selection in set 2. After the decision is made, your partners pitching box will be directly across. After each game, players move to the opposite side, directly across.
- The home team in sets 1 and 3 gets to decide if they want to throw first or second. They may choose which player on their team throws first.
B) Teams
- For the Fall 2024 season, there are 14 teams in the Tuesday night Pig Beach league
- The league will consist of two division of seven teams.
- For the Winter 2024 season, there are 24 teams in the Sunday Bohemian Hall league
- The league will consisted of four divisions (two conferences) of six teams
C) Distance
- Boards will be set up directly facing each other with 22 feet between the front edge of each board.
D) Score sheets
- Scoresheets will be left for all games each week
- Captains (or a team representative) exchange the score sheets prior to each set to announce who is playing.
E) Score keeping
- All teams are required to keep score. One player from each team is responsible for keeping an eye on the score, with the score announced after each round.
- There will be scoreboards available to assist all teams in score keeping.
F) Scoring and Points
- After all bags have been thrown, a bag remaining on the board is worth 1 point. A bag in the hole is worth 3 points. Add up how many points you earned and compare them to your opponent. We will be using cancellation scoring. Thus, equal points cancel each other out so that only one team can score per round.
- The team that scored points throws first in the next round. If there is no score, the last team that scored points will continue to throw first.
G) Illegal Throwing
- An illegally thrown bag will be removed from the board, and no points will count for that throw. (Ex: throwing outside the pitchers box, or where the bag is touching the ground or bags that bounce)
H) Illegal Players
- ALL players must be rostered players. (Players who have signed up for the season)
- As previously mentioned, there can be NO outside players substituting or filing in for a team, as well as no league members subbing for a team under any circumstances.
- If a team needs more players, please let the league officials know.
I) Forfeits
- In the event of a forfeit, the non forfeiting team will receive a 3-0 victory.
- If a team has one player, they can still play. The one player plays 2 on 1, only throwing against one of the two players. The other player on the two person teams throws four bags against no opponent, with points counting as if the team that is short did not score any points.
J) Playoffs
